You'll need a few basic ingredients: flour, salt, butter, and ice water. The key to a tender and flaky crust lies in how you handle the butter. Cut the cold butter into small cubes and incorporate it into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Place the dough in the center and start rolling from the center outwards, turning the dough a quarter - turn after each roll. Once your filling is ready, pour it into the prepared pie crust. Smooth it out evenly, making sure to distribute the fruit or other ingredients throughout the crust. If you're making a savory pie, you might need to pre - cook some of the ingredients, such as sautéing onions or browning meat, before adding them to the crust.
